Gareth Davies:

Hello, podcasting person.

2

:

I hope you're having a great week.

3

:

Gareth here with my review of the

RØDE Lavalier GO: elevating podcast

4

:

production to professional Heights.

5

:

As a podcast thrives on

delivering content that resonates.

6

:

I'm always on the lookout for

tools that can enhance the

7

:

clarity and quality of my audio.

8

:

I recently decided to

improve my mobile setup

9

:

as I'm hoping to capture

some conversations at this

10

:

year's podcast show London.

11

:

I needed something that would be

compatible with my trusty Zoom H6,

12

:

so a lapel mic clipped to me would

free the H6 mic up for interviewees.

13

:

In terms of price, I was keen to find the

microphone that wouldn't break the bank,

14

:

but would at least give me a good

enough recording to manipulate in post.

15

:

I posted on Facebook asking the

question and someone very kindly

16

:

recommended the RØDE Lavalier GO.

17

:

Another quick search and I found

Amazon we're offering a 14% discount

18

:

on the mic, bringing it to 50 pounds.

19

:

Perfect.

20

:

The RØDE Lavalier GO comes in a

handy little pouch, but that's it.

21

:

I had to look up a video on

YouTube, my go-to for pretty

22

:

much everything I don't know, to

figure out how to attach the clip.

23

:

But it's easy once, you know how.

24

:

One important thing to note is

that in order for the mic to

25

:

work, you need phantom power.

26

:

The Zoom H6 does thankfully,

but bear this in mind

27

:

if you're looking to buy.

28

:

For the sound test I wanted

to recreate similar conditions

29

:

to a loud conference hall.

30

:

I tested in two environments at

the pointy end of the loudness

31

:

scale by local river wier,

32

:

and in a moderately busy cafe.

33

:

Back in the studio.

34

:

I treated both files with some

background noise suppression.

35

:

Something I offer as a service actually.

36

:

The only downside I could think

of with this mic is that the wire

37

:

is pretty thin, which means it's

vulnerable if it's not treated gently.

38

:

But for a budget lapel mic, you can't

have everything and shouldn't be an issue

39

:

if you're careful with your equipment.

40

:

And finally, do you

have a RØDE Lavalier GO?

41

:

What do you think of it?

42

:

How does it compare to other

lapel mics on the market?

43

:

My social links are in the show notes.

44

:

Get in touch.

45

:

Let me know what you think.

46

:

Okay.

47

:

That's it for this review.

48

:

Have a brilliant day and happy listening.
