Shreya: Hi, my name is Shreya Sharma, and I am a marketing and PR specialist in

2

:

podcasting, specifically for Tink Media.

3

:

And today I'm going to give you

a tip about podcast marketing.

4

:

I actually got into podcasting

by listening to podcasts.

5

:

I started working with someone who loves

podcasts, and we were actually working

6

:

on a lot of different projects together.

7

:

And then, um, cause I'm a freelancer.

8

:

And at the time, I just brought

up that, oh, I love podcasts!

9

:

And they said, well, do you want

to come and work with me on this

10

:

specific podcasting project?

11

:

And then the next thing I knew, I

was writing for Inside Podcasting,

12

:

which was an absolute dream come

true, and that just opened a whole

13

:

array of opportunities, really.

14

:

And the way that I got into Tink, and I

love telling this story, is that I wrote

15

:

Lauren Fissel, the CEO of the company,

a love letter describing to her why I

16

:

love her and why I love the work that

she does and Tink does and, you know,

17

:

making a case of why she should hire me.

18

:

The one thing that I love about

podcasting is how safe and intimate it

19

:

feels when it disconnects you from any

other activity that you would be doing.

20

:

In that way, I would compare it to reading

because it really feels like holding you

21

:

in a safe space where only that space

exists when you're engaging with it.

22

:

And this is coming from me

specifically because I listen

23

:

to a lot of fiction podcasts.

24

:

So that does really feel like

escaping to a different space, being

25

:

in a different world completely.

26

:

And I think that that's the power of

audio, is that it can do that in a way

27

:

that's intimate, but also not intrusive.

28

:

Because you're allowing it to

enter your Anthropocene, basically.

29

:

So, my big tip is...

30

:

Listen to podcasts yourself.

31

:

One thing that always comes up is people

want to market their shows but don't

32

:

know what even the market is like.

33

:

So, listening to podcasts, even if

it's not in the same genre as yours

34

:

or the genre you want to be in, but

just to get an idea of what's out

35

:

there and get in the spirit of things.

36

:

Listen to podcasts yourself.

37

:

Also, why wouldn't you want to?

38

:

Podcasts are amazing.

39

:

You can find me@meetreya.com.

40

:

That's M E E T S H R E Y a.com

or LinkedIn, and you can see all

41

:

of my links in the show notes.

42

:

Thanks for listening to podcasting people.
